Carla Tavares
Carla is the President of the Commission for Equality in Labor and Employment (CITE) since January 2020. Degree in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra and is currently attending the PhD in Gender Studies from Nova School of Law. Lawyer by profession, who practiced from September 2002 until January 2020, when she assumed the functions of President of CITE.
She was a deputy to the Assembly of the Republic between November 2015 and October 2019. As a deputy, she was an effective member of the European Affairs Committee (having been a permanent rapporteur for Brexit), an effective member of the Labor and Social Security Committee (integrated the Working Groups Parenthood and Gender Equality and also the Working Group for the amendment to the Legal Regime of Professional Dancers - of which she was coordinator - and also the Working Group for the creation of the Informal Caregiver Statute).
She was also a member of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees.
Carla brings her experience to stage on women’s rights, horizon scanning on labour and employment in Europe and STEM access related topics.

Carla é Presidente da Comissão para a Igualdade no Trabalho e no Emprego (CITE) desde Janeiro de 2020. Licenciada em Direito pela Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Coimbra e doutoranda em Estudos de Género pela Faculdade de Direito da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Nova School of Law).
Advogada de profissão, que exerceu de setembro de 2002 até janeiro de 2020, data em que assumiu as funções de Presidente da CITE.
Foi deputada à Assembleia da República, entre novembro de 2015 e outubro de 2019. Enquanto deputada, foi membro efetivo da Comissão Assuntos Europeus (tendo sido relatora permanente para o Brexit), membro efetivo da Comissão de Trabalho e Segurança Social (integrou os Grupos de Trabalho da Parentalidade e Igualdade de Género e também o Grupo de Trabalho da alteração ao Regime Jurídico dos Bailarinos Profissionais - do qual foi coordenadora - e ainda o Grupo de Trabalho para a criação do Estatuto do Cuidador Informal). Foi ainda membro suplente da Comissão de Assuntos Constitucionais, Direitos, Liberdades e Garantias.
